Message from Librarian
College is a part of Higher education in India. Its library’s role is very important for the student development. Library is a bridge between the teaching and learning process. Colleges form the integral part of Higher education and libraries in colleges are the primary source for learning process.
The college library is a connecting link between teaching and learning as well as place which supplements its resources what is beyond scope of class room. College libraries play an important role in the educational history of both the students as well as the faculty members. It serves the user by providing specific information to the user.
Devgad College has established in the year 1974. The institute has central and departmental libraries. Presently the library has more than 23858 books in general, more than 11729 books under the Book Bank Scheme, 70 periodicals, 386 CDs and DVDs etc. Library has also subscribed N-LIST Online Journals consortia.
Library use SOUL 2.0 automation software since 2014 from INFLIBNET. All software modules are run successfully i.e. Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, Serial Control, Administration and OPAC. All data entry of old books is completed and newly purchased books and subscribed periodicals are entered in regularly.
In the library OPAC and Web-OPAC both are used from all students and staff. should be linked on internet via college website.

1) Book Bank :
The Book Bank facility is available for all students. It is established with the help of Students Aid Fund. The students are availing it on the large scale. The library is offering the facility to cover almost students. One set of textbooks is given between a couples of students for the entire academic year with the nominal charges. At present there are 10813 current Textbook (amounting to Rs. 9,13,917/-), under this scheme.
A separate book bank facility for the backward class students under special provision of ‘Students welfare and Universities Information Bureau, Mumbai University, Mumbai’ is available in our library. The library provides a set of textbooks to the backward class students with no charge for whole year. At present, there are 885 books amounting to Rs. 99,510/- under the scheme.
2) Circulation
Library providing books circulation service to the all current students, all staff, Ex-Students, Other society Members, inter library loan facility to Other College staff members. For this facility membership form is available in the library.

3) Photocopying Service Library offers photocopying service to all its members, walk-in users and others, Photo Copy Charges is Rs. 2/- per page to the use.
4) Open Access The Open Access system is used. All the readers can freely access the books, they desire. The partially computerization of library is done. The can search the books by using the SOUL 2.0 Software, which is developed by INFLIBNET Centre. The book search (by Title, Author, Publisher, Acc. No, Subject) circulation and correspondence is done with the help of software and computer.
5) Internet Service Free Internet service for all students is available in the library, during the period 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Three pc are provided for this purpose.
6) Reading Hall The library has a large well ventilated ‘Reading hall’ having capacity of two hundred seats, with separate table and chair. Students can get Question Papers Sets, periodicals, textbooks, reference books against their Identity cards and can study from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p. m. There is Separate “Study Room” for teachers
1)User Awareness Program :
The library takes an active part in the orientation programme organized by the institute for the benefit of new students in the beginning of academic year. They are taken around the library to familiarize them with various resources and services available for them.
Any user desiring to know more about library resources and service or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, e-journals, databases etc. should contact Librarian or Library staff.
2) Merit Card :
The students securing the first five positions in each class, are provided a ‘Merit Identity Card’ for a year. This card holders are entitled to get two additional books from the library without any charge.
3) Best User Awards :
To motivate students to make use of library and its services. A “Best User Awards” for the students and faculty.
4) Book Display program :
Libraries can organize exhibitions on important occasions like birth anniversary of eminent personalities. This will help users to know the collection of books on various topics in the library.
5) Staff Users Meet :
Libraries can organize lectures, seminars etc. on various topics for students and staff which are useful to them. e.g. Open access resources, library consortium, etc.
6) Invited talks on book :
Library can invite faculties from college to talk on particular book read by them from the library. It can helps to introduce versatile collection of library and creates awareness about library collection among readers.
7) Open book library :
Library can keep some books & Magazines in garden near to library or in campus on tables and encourage to students to read and discuss on that books.
- 1. Only registered members are allowed to use the Library.
- 2. No group discussion is allowed in the reading hall.
- 3. Readers should observe strict silence and switch off their mobile phones etc. in the library.
- 4. Members should produce their ID cards at the entrance of the library.
- 5. No bags, files can brought in to the library.
- 6. Enter your name and Sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entering library.
- 7. Books will be issued to the students for 15 days only. In the last page slip is pasted and stamped mentioning the due date and the fine will be charged @ Re.1 per day per book from the due date till the book is returned to library.
- 8. If the books are lost, Then the borrower shall replace the books of the same edition or latest edition or pay double cost of the book after getting permission from the librarian.
- 9. Students are required to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil, writing or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.
